Sustainable livestock systems have the potential to support countries in improving their territorial governance, which translates into the reduction of environmental conflicts, the promotion of the conservation of ecosystems and the generation of economic benefits for families.ÂÂÂ ÂÂÂ In a joint effort, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Good Growth Partnership and the UN REDD+ Program carried out, in June 2020, a virtual exchange of experiences between different countries and organizations on the management of endangered species in cattle-raising areas of Latin America.ÂÂÂ
To achieve this goal, the 1 for 20 Partnership promotes the development of sustainable and viable agricultural production models, facilitates dialogue between stakeholders, and helps build the capacity of partners. Managed from Abidjan, the 1 for 20 Partnership is a collaboration between the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Coffee-Cocoa Council. It benefits from the technical and financial support of UN Environment (Finance Initiative and UN-REDD) and the EU REDD Facility.

In its efforts to support its partner countries and development practitioners in meaningfully integrating a gender perspective into their policies and institutional commitments for REDD+, the UN-REDD Programme has developed a Checklist for Gender-Responsive Workshops. It is a simple, concise and easy to use two-page checklist that provides concrete guidance for workshop organizers in designing and implementing gender-responsive REDD+ workshops at the regional, national or local levels. This, in turn, can help all women and men REDD+ stakeholders in equitably and meaningfully participating in national and sub-national REDD+ action. The checklist is available on the UN-REDD Workspace in English, French and Spanish.
This Information Brief provides key details about the UN-REDD Gender Marker Rating System which was created in 2017 to track and monitor the gender responsiveness of UN-REDD’s technical assistance.
