Dos publicaciones recientes sobre el Inventario Forestal Nacional de Perú están contribuyendo a clarificar aún más los procesos implicados en el diseño y la ejecución de inventarios forestales nacionales: "Memoria sobre el diseño y ejecución inicial del Inventario Nacional Forestal y de la Fauna Silvestre en el marco del proyecto Inventario Nacional Forestal y Manejo Forestal Sostenible ante el Cambio Climático"  y "Open Foris: Recolección, Análisis y Reporte de Información Forestal".

En un reciente Webinar del Programa ONU-REDD, Chile, Ecuador, México, Perú y Honduras compartieron cómo han estructurado y gestionado procesos participativos para la construcción de sus Estrategias Nacionales y Planes de Acción REDD+.

A beta version of Geodecisión: una herramienta espacial flexible para orientar la toma de decisiones ambientales (Geodecision: a flexible spatial tool to help guide environmental decision-making), was launched in Lima, Peru, on 30 May 2016.  A series of events took place to introduce the tool and to allow potential users to explore its functionalities, attended by approximately 50 participants from the government, NGOs and the private sector.  

El Ministerio de Ambiente de Perú dispuso la publicación de la propuesta de Estrategia Nacional sobre Bosques y Cambio Climático (ENBCC) en su portal Web institucional (http://www.minam.gob.pe/consultaspublicas) con el fin de conocer las sugerencias y/o comentarios de la ciudadanía.  Las personas interesadas en hacer llegar sugerencias sobre la propuesta de la ENBCC, podrán remitirlas por escrito al Ministerio del Ambiente en un plazo de diez (10) días hábiles a partir de la publicación la Resolución Ministerial en el Diario Oficial.  Para mayor información, incluyendo la resolución ministerial, el documento versión 2 de la ENBCC y el formulario para presentar aportes,  visitar el portal de Consultas Públicas del MINAM: http://www.minam.gob.pe/consultaspublicas/2016/05/13/resolucion-ministerial-n-118-2016-minam/

The UN-REDD Programme is currently supporting Peru’s Ministry of the Environment (MINAM) to develop an online flexible spatial tool to help guide REDD+ decision-making through the evaluation and prioritization of potential implementation areas, as part of a Targeted Support request by Peru. Judith Walcott and Miguel Torres (UNEP-WCMC) presented advances and received technical feedback on a pilot version of the tool, 14-18 March 2016 in Lima. In addition to holding a series of individual user testing sessions, a workshop was held on 17 March, with participation from a range of government institutions and NGOs, to discuss the role of spatial information in identifying priority areas for the implementation of REDD+ actions; review the functionalities and information available in the tool; explore user experiences and receive feedback on the tool; and identify next steps for the completion of the tool. 

The UN-REDD Programme has directly supported five countries in preparing their forest reference level /forest reference emission level (FRL/FREL) submission to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). With their FRELs now submitted, the Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Paraguay, Viet Nam and Zambia now have a benchmark for assessing their country’s performance in implementing REDD+.

El Programa ONU-REDD y sus agencias FAO, PNUD y PNUMA, llevaron a cabo el primer evento de la Academia REDD+ para América Latina y el Caribe, el cual tuvo lugar en el Parque Nacional Iguazú, Argentina, del 5 al 10 de Octubre del 2015 y contó con la presencia de 45 representantes de 12 países de la región.

The UN-REDD Programme and its agencies FAO, UNDP and UNEP successfully held the first regional REDD+ Academy event for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), which took place in Argentina’s Iguazú National Park, from October 5-10, 2015, with the presence of over 45 participants from 12 countries.
